Is Aldi Meat Good In 2022? (Must Read Before Buying)

When meat prices start to climb, shoppers with an eye on their budget have to do their research before putting down their hard-earned cash on groceries. It is frustrating to have to travel somewhere for one item like chicken.

Aldi’s just-the-basics-at-ultra-low prices business model has some people wondering if they really can get everything in one place, including their steaks or drumsticks.

  • This might make you wonder whether Aldi meats are good, or should you purchase it elsewhere. Here is what I discovered!
  • Is Aldi Meat Good In 2022?

Aldi meat is different depending on which kind. Although their Black Angus beef products get high marks, customers are not satisfied with the quality of their chicken or turkey products. Aldi, however, offers fine meat selections at fair prices without having to go into a butcher.

Let’s dig a bit deeper into where Aldi gets their meat, why it’s so cheap (it’s nothing to do with quality), critiques of individual meat products, and where you might be able to get meat cheaper even than Aldi, if you’re willing to make that special trip.

Why Is Aldi Meat So Cheap?

Naturally, we assume low quality because of low prices. However, at Aldi this is not the case.

Aldi’s meat is cheap for the same reason that everything in the store is – because Aldi’s business model emphasizes efficiency, in the form of a hundred different things, from store size to cart rentals.

Aldi’s use of local and regional farmers for beef helps with this.

Aldi’s business practices help keep costs low. This allows them to pass savings on to their customers.

It’s even better that they offer specialty meats for a lower price than their regular prices, including Never Any! lines.

Which Aldi Beef Is the Best?

The meat products that consistently receive high marks are Aldi’s USDA Choice and Black Angus beef.

USDA Choice, a U.S. Department of Agriculture designation, is used to identify meats that meet very high-quality standards. In fact, Choice’s quality is only surpassed by Prime.

Black Angus beef can only be certified if the cows comply with specific genetic requirements. The hides must also meet at least 51 per cent black standards. Their juicy and well-marbled meat is what makes them so popular.

Aldi has a better deal: their USDA Choice Black Angus USDA Choice Bottom Round Roasts come in at $4.49 per pound. Giant Eagle’s Certified Black Angus is $7.99 per pound. That’s over three dollars’ difference per pound for comparable, high-quality meat.

Their organic grass-fed, grass-fed ground meat is another popular item. It’s a product that many people don’t know they can even find on cooler shelves. For just $5.49 per pound, the Simply Nature organic beef is a magnificent value.

Aldi’s Organic Whole Chickens and Aldi’s Bison Meat (sold only in small quantities, not as an Everyday Product) have also received rave reviews.

Are You Looking for Aldi Meat?

Aldi gets its meats from some very surprising places, as we’ve already mentioned.

Aldi’s beef is made from local and regional cow farms. Aldi’s beef comes from farms near your home.

This is a great practice for small to mid-sized cattle farmers. It also saves Aldi money. More on this later.

  • Aldi chicken products often look identical to Tyson chicken. Aldi uses the Kirkwood brand to sell chicken, so you will pay less for Aldi. Our article here explains how this was possible.
  • Also, if Tyson has ever caused an issue in your life with Aldi’s Kirkwood chicken, it is likely that you had an issue.

Aldi imports some of its meat from international sources, including grass-fed and all-organic ground cattle. Any meat from an outside country, however, must list its source on the packaging.

For more information, see the related posts about Aldi’s source of chicken and Aldi’s bacon, as well as whether Aldi offers Halal meat.

  • Conclusion
  • Aldi’s meat is good or not-so-great, depending on what kind you purchase. Even meat that isn’t on the “awesomest” side of this scale can still be of decent quality. So, I’m not saying you shouldn’t buy meat from Aldi if it’s not.

  • All-in-one grocery shopping for your convenience
  • Is Aldi’s meat safe?

Aldi will likely provide USDA Choice meat. This is the second highest grade and generally has less marbling. It also has less flavor and more juice. If you’re shopping for steak, you’re probably not going to get the best steak from Aldi.

    Is Aldi Meat Poor Quality?

Aldi is proud to promote Great British quality. We source many of our products from the UK as part of that commitment. We source our whole core product range from British Red Tractor certified farms.

    Is Aldi Meat High Quality?

The meat that they sell is the same quality that you would find in other grocery stores, just without that name-brand label. If you’re looking for lower prices and designer double-loins, then we will gladly sacrifice them! Jul 16, 2018
