Dentist That Accepts Medicaid For Adults
Medicaid And Dental Care
Medicaid provides low- and no-cost insurance to eligible families. It is funded by the federal government and individual states. The federal government determines what healthcare costs should be covered. However, each state is responsible for providing dental care for adult patients.
Medicaid is available to anyone below 21. They can access most dental services in any state. It provides a wide range of benefits, including EPSDT for children, which stands to stand for Early and Periodic screening, diagnosis, and treatment. When a Medicaid dentist has been found by a parent for their child’s dental care, they can provide it.
The state determines how much dental care is available to an adult who has Medicaid. The Center for Health Care Strategies, Inc. provides a comprehensive chart listing each state’s Medicaid dental benefits.
There are some states that offer generous health benefits, which can be classified as “extensive”. These include preventative and diagnostic care like cleanings, x-rays, and fillings. Crowns, as well as other procedures like extractions might be covered by them.
Other states may offer limited care, which might only include fillings and exams. Or, it might place a limit on the dollar amount for some services or require pre-approval.
Other states provide only emergency dental care. Each state has its own requirements for emergency dentistry visits. Some may only do emergency root canals. There might be emergency root canals. Still, others might only cover medically necessary dental work, but a medical doctor will need to determine that it is truly necessary for the person’s medical health.
Also, Medicaid-eligible adults in four states, Alabama, Delaware, Maryland and Tennessee, do not have access to dental care.
Many states offer affordable dental care, including for those who are pregnant or disabled.
Individual dentists may choose to take Medicaid patients regardless of state policies. Just like they have the option to refuse certain private insurance, so can individual dentists. It can sometimes be difficult to find a dentist that accepts Medicaid.
We advise people looking for a dentist in their area to use our online search tool , but searching for one who treats patients on Medicaid is a bit more complicated. Follow these steps to locate a dental practitioner if you’re enrolled in Medicaid.

I have been going to this place for the last 5 years. I have had many problems. They took care of them. The customer service, care, guidance and treatment I have got have been always extraordinary. Everyone is professional and dedicated to deliver the best. I am sorry, I don’t remember all the names of the wonderful staff. Some of the names of the wonderful team members I remember I would like to mention like : Dr. Bains, Alex, Anna and Rupa. A big thank you for all the years for the amazing service🙏 Keep up the great work. You all are amazing! – RIGHT PATH LEARNING
I have been going to Angel Care Dental since I was a young child… so quite a while 😉 and I wouldn’t go anywhere else. The facility is beautiful, the care and gentle touch mean everything to me because I don’t like going to the dentist – who does? But it’s different here and I leave feeling genuinely happy. Mihaela is the BEST hygienist and Dr Galo is kind and extremely gentle. Even a root canal isn’t half bad with Dr Galo! Dr Soraya is also wonderful! Thanks Angel Care. ☺️ – Tara H
